Vera Veer / repair, reuse & charitable access
Understand the repair. Keep the knowledge.
Object Afterlives is the proposed first program: a supported introduction to understanding a repair, caring for an object and keeping what is useful in circulation.
The proposed experience
The first proposal is two appointment-only clinics for up to eight adults and eight ordinary household objects. The final schedule, task scope and staffed capacity remain to be confirmed before any appointments open.
A qualified repair educator and separate support are part of the proposal. Each object would be assessed for a suitable bounded task, with work and care guidance recorded in a simple repair passport. A completed assessment would not guarantee a repair.
A deliberately narrow first scope
Small textile repairs and simple adjustments to suitable non-electrical household objects are being explored. The final object and task list will reflect the educator’s competence, safe handling and the available time and resources.
Electrical, safety-critical and business-stock repairs are outside the proposed first scope. Please wait for the actual appointment information before selecting or bringing an object.
Who, where and when
No-fee adult learning is proposed. The teaching team, place, activity-specific permissions, insurance, full resources and dates still need confirmation. Registration is not open.
The actual invitation will include accepted tasks, arrival and access details, cost and cancellation terms. You can ask a general access question now without sharing a diagnosis.
Care that can be followed.
The proposed repair passport records the assessment, work actually completed, care guidance and remaining limits. Learning, completed repairs and returns would be recorded after they happen. Stories and photographs would require separate optional permission.
Keep the meaning with the repair.
The prepared intake includes an optional question: What matters about this object, or what would you like to keep using it for? Sharing a story is a choice, separate from participation and any permission to publish.
The object passport carries the assessment, work actually completed, care advice and remaining limits. Participant-owned objects stay with their owners under the proposed appointment model. Assessment, repair and return are recorded separately.
