A darker note in the collection.
Smoky quartz pairs translucent depth with a pointed silhouette. Its brown-to-gray tones bring a restrained contrast to books, wood and lighter minerals.
One smoky quartz point. Color, inclusions and shape vary naturally. Handle the tip carefully and avoid impacts.
Decorative or collecting object. The planned format is one piece. Individual measurements, current selection and delivery or pickup terms will be confirmed before ordering opens.

LOOK AGAIN. THERE IS LIFE HERE.
SMOKY QUARTZ
Same stone. Another angle.
G Benincasa Estética brings material, memory and making into view, with credit for the people behind the work and care for what comes next.
BROWN IS NOT A PROVENANCE
Smoky quartz’s grey-to-brown colour involves defects in the quartz structure, associated with impurities and irradiation. Treatment can deepen colour too. Appearance alone does not settle this piece’s treatment or origin. A good description leaves room for what is not yet known.
SCOTLAND / KEEPING THE BEFORE
In 1811, Robert Jameson recorded large Cairngorm quartz specimens. Casts were made before cutting and polishing: the before survived the change. A later Muirhead & Son brooch, c. 1868-1873, joins cairngorm quartz, Sutherland gold and Scottish freshwater pearls (NMS X.2018.17). Those are its documented relationships—not the origin of this point.
CHANGE YOUR VIEW, NOT THE RECORD
Keep the stone supported. Move until a reflection disappears. Notice an internal feature, then a worked edge. What changed with your viewpoint? What stayed with the material? Let the second look improve the first description.
CARE CONTINUES
Protect the point. Avoid heat shock; use a soft dry cloth while repairs or coatings are unknown. This is an invitation to observe, not a promise to change your mood.
